On Sunday, May 24, we finally reopen the doors to the factory in Salhus after being closed since mid-March due to the corona virus. At first the museum will only be open on Sundays, and later on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays during the summer holidays.
This is the summer to explore attractions outside the hustle and bustle of the city centre. We have plenty of space indoors, and exciting opportunities for families outside the museum, with outdoor café seating, an cultural heritage trail to explore the factory town Salhus, hiking opportunities and a bathing spot close by. We look forward to offering you safe, interesting and reinvigorating museum experiences this summer!
The cafe, museum shop and art exhibit in the gallery will be open to drop-in visitors. Here we show textile art by Marianne Moe in her new solo exhibition "Between light and dark" (Mellom ljos og mørke). Moe exhibits large-scale textile works in wool felt, formal explorations inspired by the nuances between light and dark.
You can also reserve a table in our café if you want to be on the safe side.
The factory itself is only accessible with a guide. Guided tours start with the screening of the film about the factory town Salhus, every hour at 12.00, 13.00, 14.00, and 15.00. The film lasts for 24 minutes and a guided tour lasts approximately 40 minutes.
We are very happy to finally be able to open the museum to the public, but this summer, like everyone else, we must adhere to official regulations to prevent the spread of Covid-19. In accordance with the current Norwegian regulations, we need to register contact information for everyone who participates on a guided tour. To ensure that both our guests and employees stay safe, we will let in a limited number of people into the factory at the same time. Book a guided tour here! You can also e-mail us or call or text (+47) 917 05 645 to make a booking.
Please contact us if you wish to visit us outside normal opening hours.
